Four-product alert study

Trip Manta vs Google Flights price alerts

We are tracking the same trips in Trip Manta and Google Flights, then counting the matching price-drop emails each service sends and comparing their Gmail arrival times.

Study in progress

We are tracking the same 20 trips on all four services

The final score will show how many matching price-drop emails each service sent, which service emailed first, and how many minutes later the others arrived. Interim results stay private.

Same flight, same fare, same clock

Google Flights supports route and specific-flight tracking. We use the same flights, dates, cabin, passenger count, and currency in both services.

Google does not publish a schedule for general price alerts. We do not guess how often it checks. We measure the emails that actually reach the shared study inbox.

Same 20 trips

Every service tracks the same routes, dates, cabins, and passenger count.

One inbox

All four services send alerts to the same Gmail account, so their received times are directly comparable.

Two simple scores

We count matching price-drop emails and compare which service reached the inbox first.

What we count

If a service sends a price-drop email that matches one of the tracked trips, it gets one email in its total. Gmail's received timestamp determines who was fastest.

matching price-drop emails sent for each tracked trip

Duplicate Gmail messages are removed. For speed comparisons, emails reporting substantially the same fare for the same trip are treated as one alert race.

Publication rules

  • Only emails received after all compared trackers were activated count.
  • The email must describe a price decrease and match a tracked trip.
  • Email totals are reported for every trip and every service.
  • No interim totals are published before the study window closes.

Sources and limitations

No booking or realized savings is assumed. Results will apply only to the declared cohort and study window. Product performance can vary by itinerary and travel date.
